From the classroom to the community, De La Salle North Catholic High School students are gaining real-world experience while making a difference in Portland. Through the school's Corporate Work Study (CWS) program, students work alongside community partners like the Portland Police Bureau-supported Sunshine Division, helping provide emergency food assistance to families and individuals in need. This partnership gives students the opportunity to build professional skills while supporting Sunshine Division’s mission of fighting hunger across the Portland metro area. For PPB Officer Rashida Saunders, the partnership is especially meaningful. As a De La Salle graduate who once relied on food assistance herself, she now helps provide that same support to others while mentoring students from her alma mater.
