-Houston, TX. -August 25, 2023. A suspect is in custody after leading officers on a chase with his girlfriend’s vehicle in southwest Houston late Friday. According to Houston police, officers received a call at around 4 p.m. in the 8700 block of Town Park Drive about a domestic disturbance between the suspect and his girlfriend while she tried to remove several items from their apartment. The suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots in the air, police said. He then allegedly took his girlfriend’s keys and fled in her Honda Accord. Several hours later, at around 9 p.m., HPD officers spotted the Honda Accord in the 2900 block of Rogerdale near the Westchase area. They tried to stop the vehicle, but police said the suspect sped off. The suspect crashed into several vehicles before jumping out of the Honda while it was still moving. Police said officers feared the suspect may be armed after they observed him reaching into his wristband. That was when an officer fired his gun at the suspect, according to police. The bullet struck a nearby apartment but no one was struck. The suspect eventually surrendered to police and was taken into custody. No one else was hurt. The investigation into this case remains ongoing.
