On September 4, 2024, Whitman County Sheriff's Deputies stopped a truck for expired registration. Pullman Police Officer Carpenter soon arrived as backup. The 43-year-old driver of the truck was suspected of driving under the influence of prescription medications. It was decided that Officer Carpenter would handle the DUI investigation. The woman was eventually arrested for DUI and was transported to the Pullman Police Station. A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) was called in to interview the woman. It was also revealed that this was her 2nd DUI arrest in 9 months. She was eventually given a citation with a mandatory court appearance and she was released. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
