On March 13, 2024, Las Cruces Police Officer Adler observed a vehicle travel over the marked lane lines and almost hit the center median curb. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and the 22-year-old driver admitted to consuming alcohol. The investigation was turned over to Trainee Officer Vreeland, who performed standardized field sobriety tests. At the end of the tests, the woman was arrested for DUI. She was transported to the Las Cruces police station, where she submitted two breath samples. The results were 0.16% and 0.15% BAC. She was then transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center. Her DUI charge was eventually dismissed after she completed a diversion program.
