Near S. Eastwood Drive and Route 14, he spotted a red 2018 Ford F-150 that matched the caller’s description. He followed it along Route 14 and saw it swerve between lanes. Gallman pulled the truck over. He spoke with the driver, identified as Erin. Two children were in the backseat. Erin said she was heading home. As they talked, Gallman noticed her speech was slurred and her movements suggested she was impaired. He first asked her to complete a finger dexterity test, then had her get out and perform field sobriety tests. During the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, Gallman observed a lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus before 45 degrees. On the Walk and Turn test, Erin did not touch heel to toe with each step and took the wrong number of steps. During the One Leg Stand test, she did not raise her foot as instructed and put it down before the test ended. Based on her driving, signs of impairment, and performance on the tests, Gallman arrested Erin for driving under the influence. Before officers handcuffed her, she was allowed to call someone to take responsibility for the children. Officers then placed her in the patrol car and took her to the Woodstock Police Department for processing. A search of the truck after the arrest turned up an open bottle of Barefoot wine. A travel cup in the center console held liquid that smelled of alcohol. At the station, Erin agreed to give breath samples. The test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.183%, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%. Erin was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2)), driving with a BAC of .08 or more (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1)), improper lane usage (625 ILCS 5/11-709(a)), and transporting or possessing open alcohol as a driver (625 ILCS 5/11-502(a)). She was also charged with endangering the life and health of a child (720 ILCS 5/12C-5(A)(1)). Because of her level of impairment, Erin was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. She was later released pending her court appearance. Online court records showed that her case was still pending as of February 27, 2025. If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
