On November 13, 2024, tragedy struck in San Diego’s Little Italy when Rachael Martinez, 31, and her husband, Jose Medina, 39, were ambushed and killed near the courthouse by Christopher Farrell, a former acquaintance of Martinez. The couple was scheduled to attend a restraining order hearing against Farrell that morning. The attack left four children without parents and highlighted serious concerns about the protection of domestic violence victims. Following the ambush, officers from the Port of San Diego Harbor Police engaged Farrell in a shootout, during which one officer was wounded and Farrell was fatally shot. This video, released by the Harbor Police, captures the moments surrounding the officer-involved shooting.
