On April 19th, 2025, New Albany Police officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a woman walking in the middle of Reynoldsburg–New Albany Road, stopping traffic, screaming at drivers, and making obscene gestures. Callers stated the woman appeared intoxicated and was acting as if she wanted to be struck by a vehicle. Officers located the woman, later identified as Hannah Carver, who immediately began yelling at officers and refused to provide identification. Police noted a strong odor of alcohol and observed her screaming loudly enough to draw neighbors out of their homes. Despite repeated attempts to calm her down over a 25-minute period, she continued causing a disturbance and refused to comply with lawful commands. After being informed she was under arrest for Disorderly Conduct, Carver resisted officers by going limp, pulling away, and refusing to enter the patrol vehicle. Officers had to physically assist her into the cruiser as she wedged her leg into the door frame to prevent it from closing. The resistance continued during transport and at the jail, where she repeatedly screamed, kicked the cruiser, and refused to cooperate with intake staff. This video shows the responding officers’ body-worn camera footage and the full encounter from initial contact to booking. All details are taken directly from the official New Albany Police Department incident report.
