On January 31, 2026, in Crescent City, California Highway Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop after observing vehicle code violations and an obscured license plate. What began as a routine enforcement stop quickly escalated into a DUI investigation captured on police bodycam. During contact with the driver, officers observed objective signs of impairment consistent with possible drug intoxication. Officers also located suspected drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were conducted as part of the investigation, and the driver was ultimately placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.
