Music from inside the building was digitally removed due to copyright issues. Audio may be of poor quality during that portion of the video. He plead guilty and paid about $1,870 in fines and restitution. Full report below. "On 2/7/24 at approximately 1810 ADF&G port sampler (redacted) reported the F/V Kraken at SPC has offloaded undersize king salmon. I responded and met with (redacted), port sampling supervisor (redacted), and permit holder Cale (redacted), at SPC. ADF&G had set aside five king salmon. (redacted) stated some of them were questionable. I used the sampling board to measure the salmon. I confirmed the 28" mark on the board was correct with a measuring tape. Four of the salmon were significantly undersize. One was within 1/8" and was in active rigor mortis. I allowed (redacted) to sell the fish. (redacted) delivered a total of 66 king salmon. Ultimately, I seized 4 undersize king salmon. They were measured at 27 3/8"(2), 27 1/8, 27". The four seized fish were added to the fish ticket and weighed 28lbs in total (7.0 lb average). Permit Holder Cale (redacted), says it was his first time winter trolling and admits fish are undersize. Measuring in a gutting bin which introduces error by pinching tail. I observed the mark in the gutting bin was at 27 7/8" further causing measuring error. (redacted) was cooperative throughout the contact and indicated he would make some changes to avoid issues with small fish in the future. 3 salmon were donated to the pioneer home on 2/8/24. 1 king salmon retained as evidence. 5 AAC 29.140. Size limits, possession, and landing requirements. (a) Unless otherwise specified in this chapter, king salmon taken and retained must measure at least 28 inches from tip of snout to tip of tail (in its natural open position) or 23 inches from the midpoint of the clethral arch to the tip of the tail. Undersized king salmon that are taken must be returned to the water unharmed. A person may not mutilate or otherwise disfigure a king salmon in any manner that would prevent the determination of the minimum size restriction specified in this section."
