On 11/18/2021, Livonia Police Officers responded to the area of Eight Mile and Merriman on a report of a carjacking that had just occurred. Information was provided that two female victims were walking to their Jeep Compass, when they were approached by two unknown males in a dark colored sedan, each wearing ski masks. The male suspects each produced a handgun, stole the vehicle keys to the Jeep and ordered the females to walk away. One male suspect left in the dark sedan and the other male suspect left in the victim’s Jeep. Officers arrived in the area and located the stolen Jeep in the area of Merriman and Lyndon. At the time the vehicle was located, it was being followed by the dark colored sedan. The Jeep fled from officers and officers pursued the vehicle until it crashed in the area of Plymouth and Stark. At the time of the crash, the male occupant exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A perimeter was established and a short time later, the suspect was located nearby and taken into custody, without incident. A handgun was later recovered from nearby where he was taken into custody. Meanwhile, as some officers pursued the Jeep, other officers in the area followed the dark sedan from the area of Merriman and Lyndon until it eventually stopped in the area of Farmington and Plymouth. The male occupant of this vehicle was also taken into custody without incident and a handgun was recovered from his vehicle. Driver of a Jeep failed to stop for speeding, which eventually officers caught up to the vehicle. When they approached the vehicle, no one was inside the car, and eventually the driver was found walking down a side street a few blocks over.
