On July 12, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Sgt. Michael Losurdo was on patrol when he saw an individual lying in front of the entrance to a residential property on the 600 block of First Street. The man, later identified as 28-year-old Jethro Sylverne of Phillipsburg, was asked to move along, but he refused. Police Officers Carmen Benitez and Brandon Cappelluti arrived to assist. He was told again he could not lie in front of the entrance and that he was on private property. He was also informed of services available to him, if needed. Sylverne continued to refuse to get up and move. He was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, charged with defiant trespassing and disorderly conduct, processed, and released on a summons. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty
