During an early morning patrol, an officer spotted a white car driving erratically, making wide turns and drifting into a marked bike lane. The officer initiated a traffic stop, but the driver continued driving until pulling into a fast-food drive-thru line. Upon making contact, the officer noticed the driver slurring their words and acting lethargic, alongside a wine glass sitting in plain view inside the vehicle. The driver claimed they were simply a terrible driver and had only consumed a small amount of alcohol. The situation took a bizarre turn when the officer requested standardized field sobriety exercises. The driver repeatedly assumed dancer and gymnast positions during the tests, failed to follow basic instructions, and complained that they were having a bad night because they were just a girl. After performing poorly on the walk and turn and the one-leg stand, the individual was arrested for driving under the influence. At the testing center, the driver's mood swung wildly from crying to flirting with the staff before officially refusing the breathalyzer test. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide. #UCF #bodycam #news
