Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 10:58 p.m. on January 25, 2024, Wauconda Police Officer Jonathan Finze spotted a white Hyundai heading north on Route 12 near N Old Rand Road. The car swerved onto the shoulder, then continued veering off the road near Case Road. Finze pulled it over, and the driver stopped on the shoulder. The driver, Savanna Anderson, told Finze she was going home after attending trivia night in Lake Zurich. She said she had consumed three alcoholic drinks. Suspecting she was impaired, Finze asked Officer Donna Zorbas to assist. He offered Anderson a breath test, but she refused. She agreed to step out and take field sobriety tests. Finze began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test and saw all six signs of impairment. During the One Leg Stand test, Anderson struggled to raise her foot and took 30 seconds to count to 20. In the Walk and Turn test, she missed the heel-to-toe steps, turned incorrectly, and raised her arms to balance. She passed the final test, reciting the alphabet from F to U without pausing. Anderson refused a second breath test at the roadside. Finze arrested her for driving under the influence, citing the smell of alcohol, her signs of impairment, her admission that she had been drinking, and her poor performance on the tests. Officers handcuffed her, placed her in the patrol car, and took her to the Wauconda Police Department. They later found open containers in her vehicle. At the station, Anderson was read the Warning to Motorist and agreed to give breath samples. The test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.148%, above the legal limit of 0.08%. After processing, she was released to her husband and given summonses for court.
