🚨 ARKANSAS STATE TROOPER PURSUES DRIVER AFTER TRAFFIC STOP 🚨 On September 14, 2026, around 11:20 p.m., Arkansas State Police Trooper Dustin Medford observed a black Ford Excursion stopped near W. 11th Street, I-630 West and Center Street with its hazard lights activated. According to the trooper’s report, the driver, later identified as Ahmad Waheed, appeared to be having some type of issue. During the traffic stop, Trooper Medford said he suspected Waheed could be under the influence of narcotics. The report states Waheed had a wide-eyed, almost blank gaze and told the trooper he had previously “fried his mind” using PCP. He denied recently using drugs or alcohol. Trooper Medford also noted that Waheed is paraplegic and uses a wheelchair. While the trooper was attempting to conduct further checks, the report says Waheed started the vehicle, reached for the controls he uses to operate the gas and brake pedals, and then fled the scene. A pursuit followed onto I-630 West. Near the 3-mile marker, Trooper Medford performed a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI), successfully stopping the vehicle. Because Waheed was unable to exit the vehicle on his own, a controlled extraction was performed. EMS responded and transported him to Baptist Medical Center Little Rock, where a blood draw warrant was obtained and executed. According to the report, Waheed later made spontaneous statements to medical personnel that he had been using drugs and drinking.
