On the evening of December 31st, 2025, I, Corporal Darryle Hinton #508, was patrolling Interstate 530 southbound near exit 42. While patrolling, I began following a red Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle (V 1) with Arkansas license plate 182HI. Without cause, the motorcycle accelerated at a very high rate of speed. I confirmed its speed using my front same-direction radar and locked it at 91 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour speed zone. I then activated my emergency lights and sirens near exit 43. The motorcycle drove onto the right shoulder, passed vehicles, and began fleeing. During the pursuit, I advised Troop E Dispatch of all pertinent information, including speeds, traffic conditions, and location. The motorcycle continued southbound on Interstate 530, then exited and continued southbound on United States Highway 65 S. V 1 exceeded 150 miles per hour. The motorcycle continued south on United States Highway 65 S, running the red light at the intersection of United States Highway 425 and State Highway 81 Junction. The rider continued to drive recklessly, driving into oncoming traffic and passing vehicles on the shoulder. For unknown reasons, while negotiating a right curve, V 1 exited the roadway to the left. After exiting the roadway, the operator of the motorcycle, later identified as Nicholas Rushing of Pine Bluff, laid the motorcycle down in the grassy median, striking soft mud, causing Mr. Rushing to be thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcycle, along with Mr. Rushing, rolled several times violently before coming to a final rest in the median, just north of the Moscow community. I then parked, exited my unit, and immediately began rendering aid to Mr. Rushing before Emergency Ambulance Services Incorporated (EASI) arrived on scene and took over. Mr. Rushing was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center (JRMC) to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery. The motorcycle was a total loss and was towed by Smith’s Towing out of Pine Bluff. An accident report was completed for the collision portion of this incident. The accident number is 202523894ASP. A felony case file will be sent to the Jefferson County Prosecutors’ Office for review.Mr. Rushing was subsequently charged with 27-51-403 Signals For Turning, Stopping, or Decreasing Speed Required, 27-16- 303 Driving On Suspended License, 27-20-106 Motorcycle – Riding Without Operators License, 27-22-104 No Liability Insurance, 5-54-125 (d)(4) Fleeing – Felony Vehicle or Conveyance – Serious Physical Injury, 27-51-201/27-50-302(7) Speeding – More Than 15 MPH Over Limit, 27-51-307 Improper Passing on Left, 27-51-308 Improper Passing on Right, and 27-52-107 Fail To Stop At Red Light.
