#bodycam #policebodycam #bodycamreports Cop Violently Arrests 18-Year-Old Girl During Routine Traffic Stop An 18-year-old high school senior’s first traffic stop turned violent after South Whitley Police Officer Brian Shimmel pulled her over for allegedly driving 37 mph in a 30 mph zone and having a broken headlight. The officer claimed Vivian Augustus refused to identify herself and exit the vehicle. He then dragged her from the car, forced her onto the pavement, placed her in an armbar, and arrested her. However, footage reportedly shows her identification lying on the ground after she was pulled from the vehicle. Shimmel later admitted that his body camera had not recorded the initial confrontation—even though he had previously told Vivian that the camera would prove his account. Fortunately, the gas station’s surveillance system and the officer’s dashcam captured crucial portions of the encounter. The resisting-law-enforcement allegation was dropped, while the refusal-to-identify and speeding charges reportedly remained under a deferred prosecution agreement. The incident also raised serious questions about the officer’s use of force, the subsequent vehicle search, and his previous disciplinary history. Was this a lawful arrest, or did an officer unnecessarily turn a minor traffic stop into a violent confrontation? Share your opinion below.
