On October 19, 2024, Police in Columbus Ohio were dispatched to the 1600 block of Karl Court around 3:30 a.m. on a report of a semi hitting a building and leaving the scene. The driver 42-year-old Gregory Ivory was also believed to have brandished a handgun. Officers tried to initiate a traffic stop at Karl and East Dublin Granville roads. Ivory did not stop and continued driving on Karl Road driving in the middle of the road and going over a roundabout with sparks and flames coming from under the trailer. The suspect also attempted to back the truck up several times into police units and at the intersection of Karl and Schrock roads, the semi turned left directly into a police cruiser causing damage to the police unit and resulting in a wrist injury to the officer. The final crash happened at North High Street and North Broadway where Ivory can be seen running away from the truck. He was apprehended by police on Clinton Heights Avenue. 42-year-old Gregory Ivory was charged with felonious assault and felonious assault on a police officer.
