As the officer confronted the suspect outside the store, the situation quickly escalated after the man allegedly became aggressive, balled his fists, and lunged toward the officer, causing the officer to deploy pepper spray in an attempt to stop him. He was then transported to the Polk county jail where he was booked and charged with TRESPASS 1ST OFFENSE, INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS, INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS CAUSING BODILY INJURY, POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE, ASSAULT ON PERSONS IN CERTAIN OCCUPATIONS, and DISARMING A PEACE OFFICER.
