On November 20, 2025, a California Highway Patrol officer responded to a report of a white Dodge Ram pickup traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 101 while swerving across lanes and nearly colliding with other vehicles in Del Norte County, California. A CHP Officer later located the vehicle parked in front of a Subway restaurant in Crescent City. The officer contacted the driver and observed signs commonly associated with possible alcohol and drug impairment, including watery eyes, evasive behavior, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. During the investigation, the driver declined to perform field sobriety tests and refused a preliminary breath test. Officers continued their investigation, during which the driver became agitated and resisted officers’ attempts to conduct the stop. The driver was ultimately taken into custody without further incident. A chemical blood sample was later collected at a local hospital for toxicology testing. Following the arrest, a K-9 unit conducted a free-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted to the possible presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the truck located firearms inside the vehicle. The driver was transported to the Del Norte County Jail and booked on the following charges: • CVC 23152(g) — Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs • PC 148(a) — Resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer • PC 25400(a)(3) — Carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. #police #dui #cops
