On March 30, 2024. A Deputy from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department noticed a vehicle parked at a closed tavern. Upon closer inspection, the deputy recognized the lone occupant of the vehicle as a man named Kyle and knew he was on probation. The deputy also had information that Kyle was trafficking methamphetamine, and it appeared as though he was possibly waiting for someone. The deputy conducted surveillance on Kyle for a long period of time as he sat in his vehicle. He reached into his back seat and brought what appeared to be a blue bag to the front with him and appeared to dig around the bag. Kyle then exited his vehicle and entered the Tavern. The Tavern had since opened after the deputy began surveillance. About an hour later, Kyle walked back out to his vehicle, and appeared to be "picking" at his face numerous times. Kyle then began driving and a traffic stop was conducted as his driving status was revoked due to having five previous OWI convictions. As the deputy approached the vehicle, he detected an odor of marijuana, and observed a needle in the driver's door handle. Kyle admitted to not having a valid drivers licence and exited the vehicle. A K-9 was called and deputies searched the vehicle. The needle in the door handle had a white crystal substance inside. On the driver’s seat, was a multicolored glass smoking device with a burnt green leafy substance inside. In the passenger seat was a blue bag containing plastic baggies with a white crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Furthermore, deputies located a plastic container labeled “Crazy Blue” that had a green leafy bud substance consistent with marijuana. There was a glass jar with a white crystal substance labeled THCA. Kyle agreed to do field sobriety tests and ended up being transported to the hospital for a blood draw after he admitted to ingesting “bud.” and “DABS”. At the hospital, Kyle stated that he had one beer while gambling at the Tavern and said he was planning on going back home. The deputy noted that Kyle was making eye contact with him during questioning, but when asked if he had drugs elsewhere, he broke eye contact, looked down, and shook his head no. Kyle was then transported to the Crawford County Jail and was informed of his charges. Law enforcement have had several previous contacts with Kyle over the years and have charged him with multiple drug charges relating to distribution. He has been known to be a methamphetamine and marijuana dealer, as well as a heavy user. Kyle was on active bond conditions through Crawford County, and his rules were not to possess or consume alcohol, not enter any taverns, and not possess or consume controlled substances, making him eligible for ACT 79 searches. Neighbors, who are known to be reliable, have reported a lot of vehicle traffic coming and going from Kyle’s residence. A photograph was also provided to law enforcement that showed drug-related items in Kyle's bedroom. Deputies received further intelligence regarding Kyles trafficking. The intelligence included but was not limited to, naming individuals purchasing methamphetamine from Kyle and naming Kyle as one of the two main suppliers of methamphetamine in the area. Furthermore, it named an individual who would go to Kyle's residence to purchase from him. Based on this information, law enforcement conducted an ACT 79 search of Kyles bedroom. An officer spoke with Kyles father, who resides on the first floor of the residence. He stated that Kyles bedroom is in the basement. In Kyles bedroom, deputies located numerous items of drug paraphernalia. There was a white safe in the bedroom. The keys that Kyle was in possession of, opened the lock safe. Inside was a large quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. A black pouch had approximately (17) individually packaged for sales baggies of a crystal-like substance, consistent with methamphetamine. The baggies were all labeled with a “B.” The crystal-like substance later tested positive for methamphetamine. Each of the bags weighed approximately the same, 3.8 and 3.9 grams. The total weight of the methamphetamine was approximately 65.5 grams. The safe also contained green leafy bud substance in various containers later field testing positive for THC and weighing approximately 5.1 grams. The safe had a silver digital scale with white residue and (2) glass smoking devices with white burnt residue inside.. All the evidence was photographed and seized into evidence. Kyle was found guilty for Operating with Restricted Controlled Substance 7th offense, and Possession with Intent to deliver Methamphetamine - Over 50g. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison, 8 years of probation, and ordered to pay $638. This video is for educational purposes only.
