What begins as a welfare call involving a 3-week-old baby outside in the cold quickly becomes more complicated when the baby's father arrives. Officers are trying to understand what happened, who can safely take responsibility for the child, and whether the explanations they are hearing match what they can observe. As the encounter develops, seemingly small details begin carrying more weight. The father's behavior, the vehicle, and the questions surrounding alcohol gradually change the direction of the investigation. This bodycam footage shows how officers work through an uncertain situation one detail at a time—and how a call centered on a baby's safety can develop into a much more serious encounter.
