A 30-second clip went viral. It showed officers on top of a man, striking him. What it didn't show was the 29 minutes and 30 seconds around it. On the night of November 3, 2025, Greensboro officers patrolling Veasley Street — an area the department says has drawn repeated complaints about narcotics and violence — spotted a man sitting alone in a parked car with what appeared to be marijuana in his lap. He refused to roll down his window or exit the vehicle. After repeated commands, officers broke the glass and pulled him out in handcuffs. According to police, he freed one hand and assaulted an officer; a struggle followed on the ground, and officers used what the department calls suprascapular strikes. He can be heard saying "I can't breathe." This is the full body-worn camera and vehicle-mounted footage Greensboro PD released — including an on-camera statement from Police Chief John Thompson himself, a step the department doesn't take for every use-of-force case. ⚠️ Nathaniel Williams is presumed innocent of any charges not yet resolved in a court of law. Williams has publicly stated he believes the force used against him was excessive; GPD states officers used only approved techniques. The Greensboro City Council reviewed this footage in closed session, and an independent investigation was ongoing at the time of this release.
