Car 4, Officers, were sitting stationary at the corner of N. Case Avenue and Eastland Avenue. We observed the listed vehicle traveling north on N. Case Avenue. The vehicle slowed down as it approached the stop sign at the corner of the two roads but did not come to a complete stop. We proceeded behind the vehicle eastbound on Newton St. The vehicle turned from Newton to Mack Street. We activated our overhead lights and siren on the marked patrol car we were driving. The vehicle failed to pull over. We advised dispatch that we had emergency radio traffic and that the vehicle was refusing to pull over. We advised dispatch that we were engaging in a vehicle chase. The vehicle sped away from us eastbound on Laffer Avenue. The vehicle continued eastbound on Laffer across Iroquois and Para Avenue. The driver's door opened and the listed male exited as the vehicle was still in motion. Officer engaged in a short foot chase with the male as I remained with the vehicle. I jumped into the driver seat of the vehicle as it was heading toward the sidewalk. I safely placed the vehicle in park and secured it. Car 14 arrived on scene to assist in locating the male. Officer located the male in the backyard of 1359 Laffer where Officer lost sight of him. The male was taken into custody without incident. Prior to being read his Miranda warnings the male admitted to being the driver of the vehicle. During a search incident to arrest the male was found in possession of the listed property. The male admitted that it was most likely narcotics inside the bag but was not entirely sure. We checked the vehicle's VIN through LEADS and confirmed it was entered as stolen. The vehicle was towed to Kinney's Towing. The male was charged with the listed charges and transported to the Summit County Jail by Wagon 89. The listed property was tagged into the DB Vault on the 6th floor. Due to multiple statements from the passengers in the vehicle, we decided to not charge for RSP due to how the vehicle and the length of time that the vehicle had been entered as stolen. The vehicle was locally stolen out of Akron. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
