If you like regular arrest content, be sure to check out our other channel @ArrestCam Officers with Florida Fish and Wildlife and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in refence to 5 individuals picking palmetto berries. Due to their medicinal qualities, there is a high demand and profit potential for palmetto berries. However, in the state of Florida, it is illegal to harvest palmetto berries without a permit as they play a vital role in the ecosystem and illegal harvesting depletes food sources for wildlife. Poaching palmetto berries is now a felony offense in Florida. All 5 were initially charged with harvesting an endangered plant without a permit, armed trespassing, and resisting an officer without violence. They all negotiated plea deals: 1. Marlene’s was ultimately charged with trespassing and resisting an officer without violence. Her adjudication was withheld and she was ordered to pay $555 in fines and costs. 2. Angelore was adjudicated guilty of trespassing and was sentenced to 2 days in jail with credit for time served and she was ordered to pay $489. 3. Blandimy was adjudicated guilty of trespassing and resisting an officer without violence. He was sentenced to 2 days in jail with credit for time served and ordered to pay $560. 4. Don was charged with trespassing and his adjudication as withheld and he was sentenced to 2 days in jail with credit for time served and ordered to pay $479. 5. Yrene was adjudicated guilty of trespassing and resisting arrest without violence. She was sentenced to 2 days in jail with credit for time served and ordered to pay $570. All parties paid their fines. Blandimy and Yrene suffered from dog bites from the Sheriff’s K9. If you like this video and want to see more like it, Subscribe to Arrest Cam.
