On July 13, 2022, at approximately 12:13 a.m., officers responded to a parking lot after receiving reports of a man asleep inside a vehicle with the driver’s door open near the entrance of a business. Upon arrival, officers located a black Dodge Charger parked in a handicap space with the engine off and the keys on the floorboard near the driver’s feet. The driver appeared unconscious and had to be physically nudged several times before waking up. Officers observed signs consistent with alcohol impairment, including red watery eyes, a flushed face, sweating, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. When asked for his name and identification, the driver repeatedly refused to provide it, denying ownership of the vehicle despite documentation later confirming it was registered to him. After approximately 15 minutes of noncompliance and refusal to identify himself, he was placed under arrest for Public Drunkenness and Obstruction of Police. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a firearm inside a bag on the back seat, which was secured for safekeeping. The vehicle was impounded, and the suspect was transported to jail without further incident.
