Law enforcement officials received a distress call regarding an individual exhibiting erratic behavior, striking passing vehicles, and reportedly hallucinating. Upon arriving at the scene, officers attempted to converse with the subject, who immediately became hostile, shouted profanities, and refused to comply with basic inquiries. When the individual attempted to walk away, officers issued commands to stop and initiated a physical detainment protocol. The suspect actively resisted by fighting the officers and grabbing a pair of handcuffs during a ground struggle, which resulted in minor injuries to one of the responding officers. Additional police units and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene to assist and evaluate the suspect. The individual was subsequently cleared by medical staff at a nearby hospital before being booked into a local lockup facility on charges of resisting a peace officer and fulfilling an active out of state arrest warrant. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
