On August 18, 2023, officers in New Mexico were alerted to a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash at a major intersection. The vehicle, a silver Subaru, had fled the scene with front-end damage. An elderly woman with gray hair reportedly drove the vehicle. Shortly after, officers received another call concerning a recklessly driven silver Subaru where the vehicle had entered a resident's driveway and was trying to exit. On reaching the driveway, officers located and detained the female driver of the Subaru. Upon speaking with the driver, she exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and a strong alcoholic odor. The woman struggled to walk without assistance, requesting officers pick her up into the patrol car. Despite officers asking the suspect if she would perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, she refused. She further refused to provide a breath sample, escalating her charge to Aggravated DWI, as per the New Mexico Implied Consent Act. The suspect's vehicle was towed from the scene as officers transported the suspect to a hospital for medical clearance due to her prior hit-and-run. The suspect was medically cleared of any injuries and released for transport to jail. The suspect was charged with Aggravated DWI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Damage to a Vehicle, and Failure to Obey Traffic Control Devices/Failure to Obey Signs. #police #bodycam #cops ~~~ ** Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only.
