An officer initiates field sobriety tests on a driver exhibiting erratic behavior and signs of impairment during a late-night traffic stop. Around 3:08 AM, an officer observed a vehicle driving without headlights and noted erratic patterns, prompting a traffic stop. Upon contact, the driver, a young woman with dyed green hair, was incoherent, and an odor of alcohol was detected, leading to suspicion of impairment. The officer proceeded to administer several field sobriety exercises, including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, as seen here. The driver subsequently failed to perform these tests adequately, exhibiting poor balance, incorrect counting, and singing the alphabet when instructed not to. Based on these observations, she was arrested for driving under the influence; later Alcotest results indicated a BAC of 0.16%, double the legal limit, before she was released to a sober party after processing. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
