On February 23, 2025, Bloomington Police Officer Bunch was on routine patrol when he spotted a Saturn Vue with temporarily license plate tags. He ran the license plate on his Mobile Digital Terminal (MDT) and learned that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. He was able to positively match the driver in the vehicle as the owner with the suspended license. When the Saturn exited the parking lot and proceeded onto the roadway, Officer Bunch conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle then switched seats with a female passenger in the backseat. The owner of the vehicle was detained for driving on a suspended license. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old woman who was sitting in the driver's seat exited the vehicle and started yelling at officers. When she attempted to get back into the vehicle, she was physically prevented from doing so. She then turned around and punched one of the officers in the chest with an open hand. She was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police vehicle, where she then attempted to kick officers. She was transported to the Mclean County Jail, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result was 0.251% BAC. She was charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI), 2 counts of Resisting Arrest, and 2 counts of Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer. Her case is still open and her next court date is July 31, 2025.
