As the trooper approached, he saw a man in the roadway with a firearm, later identified as 31-year-old Felipe Amezcua Manzo. The suspect was seen pointing the firearm at the driver of a semi-trailer and attempting to enter a nearby SUV. When the suspect noticed the trooper, he ran toward a ditch near a CarMax location. The trooper gave several commands, which were ignored, before the suspect turned toward him and opened fire. The trooper returned fire while attempting to take cover and reported feeling an impact on his arm during the exchange. After regrouping at his patrol vehicle, the trooper saw the suspect still aiming and firing, reportedly using a firearm equipped with a blue laser/light. The trooper continued returning fire as the suspect advanced toward him. The suspect eventually fell to the ground, and the trooper notified dispatch. A retired Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy, who happened to be nearby, assisted the trooper until additional officers arrived. Medical aid was provided, but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. The trooper sustained a minor arm injury but did not require further treatment. No motorists or other officers were hurt in the incident. Disclaimer: This video is presented for educational, documentary, and informational purposes only.
