Flagler County, Florida, September 2026. A driver misses a turn at Seminole and Sesame, runs over a stop sign, and pushes a concrete light pole about a foot and a half into the dirt. Then he backs up and drives home. His car leaks oil the whole way, so deputies follow the trail right to his driveway. When they knock, he doesn't know what happened to his car. He didn't hit anybody. The car was already like that. Everything's normal, no big deal. He also knows "Carmine" really well. He's arrested for leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. What follows is a hospital check he says is "a waste of time," complaints about the handcuffs, a claim that his neighbor was the police chief, and a long talk with the deputy about Hemis and SRT8s on the ride to jail. Charge: Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage (F.S. 316.061(1)). The case is pending, and all charges are allegations. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
