A routine welfare check quickly turns volatile when a distressed woman accuses officers of trying to harm her—captured on police bodycam. Officers responded to a residence after reports of a woman acting erratically, possibly not sleeping, and showing signs of mental distress. Upon arrival, police attempted to calm the situation and assess her condition while speaking with family members about her behavior. The situation escalated when the woman became increasingly paranoid, refusing to cooperate and claiming officers were there to harm her. Despite repeated efforts to de-escalate and offer medical help, the interaction grew more unstable. The twist came when, during the investigation, she suddenly kicked an officer, turning a welfare check into a criminal incident. Officers immediately moved to detain her as the situation shifted from medical concern to assault on law enforcement. Police placed her under arrest, transported her for processing, and read her rights while documenting the incident on bodycam. In the end, what began as an attempt to help escalated into an arrest after the physical assault on an officer.
