On 10/25/23, at approximately 2352 hours, Officers responded to a report of a possible reckless driver at the intersection of Truman Ave and White St. Dispatch had informed about a white Chevy sedan with a headlight out, possibly driven by an intoxicated individual. Officer Clark located the vehicle at the intersection and initiated a traffic stop for the headlight violation. The driver, identified as Christopher, exhibited signs of impairment such as slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and slow movements. A strong odor of marijuana and alcohol was detected in the vehicle, and a white powdery substance was found in the driver's side door. Field sobriety exercises were conducted, indicating impairment. Christopher was arrested for DUI and it was discovered that the white powdery substance was Fentanyl. He was transported to the County Detention Center without incident. A breath test was conducted at the jail, and Christopher was observed for 20 minutes with no issues. The suspected Fentanyl was submitted as evidence. Christopher pleaded guilty to all charges and is currently incarcerated.
