On October 4, 2025, in Del Norte County on Highway 101 just south of the Oregon border a California Highway Patrol officer leaving a traffic stop observed a Dodge Ram truck pass him with a yellow 2024 registration tab sticker. The officer immediately merged into the Northbound Lane and attempted a traffic stop. The driver slow to yield did pull over for the officer just feet across the Oregon/California border. The driver was ultimately cited and released for the following charges: 4000(A)(1) - Unregistered California Based Vehicle 12500(A) - Drive W/O License 16028(A) - Fail To Provide Evidence Financial Responsibility 4462(B) - Evidence Of Registration Presented For Wrong Vehicle 2800.1(A) - Evading Peace Officer California Highway Patrol Officers involved:
