He was not the suspect. He was not involved in the operation. He drove in from Sheffield and walked into the middle of an active drug task force search warrant. Officers spent roughly 30 minutes trying to keep him out of traffic. He ended the night in a hospital and a jail cell. On April 22, 2026, the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant in the 200 block of North Locust Street in Florence, Alabama, with assistance from the Florence-Lauderdale SWAT Team and the Florence Police Department K-9 Unit. David Culliver, 46, of Sheffield, was not connected to the investigation. According to police, he arrived at the scene, became belligerent, yelled at officers, and repeatedly stepped into an active roadway despite multiple warnings to leave the road. Over the course of roughly 30 minutes, Culliver kept pulling officers away from the active warrant operation. He claimed to be working for Homeland Security. When officers warned him he would get hit by traffic, his response was "I'm immortal." He also said, at one point, "I'm the problem." Officers asked whether he had been drinking. When officers moved to arrest him, authorities say he resisted. A Florence Police K-9 was deployed to assist. According to police, Culliver grabbed one of the K-9's legs and bit the dog during the struggle. Officers struck him to make him release the dog. He was taken to North Alabama Medical Center for K-9 puncture wound treatment before being booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center. Florence Police released the full bodycam footage after shorter clips had already spread online. The department said the use of force was reviewed and found within policy. Florence City Council President Kaytrina Simmons said the K-9 use did not sit well with her after reviewing the footage. Culliver's listed charges were resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and interfering with a police dog. His bond was set at $2,500. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. No final court outcome was publicly confirmed at the time of this video. 00:00 - Highlights 00:21 - Who Is David Culliver? 00:43 - First Contact 04:08 - "I'm Immortal" 07:27 - K-9 Released 08:10 - "Let Go of My Dog" 08:37 - The Charge That Rarely Happens 09:43 - Headed to the Hospital 11:41 - Final Charges Subscribe to The Bodycam Archive for more real police footage breakdowns. #bodycam #policek9 #truecrimecases
