🚨 Excelsior Springs Mobile Home Pursuit – November 23, 2023 Excelsior Springs officers attempted to stop Robert Matthew McKenzie after multiple 911 callers reported a Dodge Ram hauling a 60‑ft long, 20‑ft‑wide mobile home with no lights, swerving across both lanes of US‑69 Hwy and forcing drivers into the ditch. Moments later, officers learned the truck was also the suspect in a hit‑and‑run crash north of city limits. Officer Robertson located the truck entering town and activated emergency lights and sirens. McKenzie refused to stop, continuing south at ~40 mph. Traffic was forced off the road as officers tried to contain the hazard. Stop sticks were deployed at Vintage Dr., but McKenzie swerved around them and ran the red light. The pursuit continued until the truck suddenly turned left onto Cameron Rd., sending the mobile home into the ditch and crushing a stop sign before coming to a stop. McKenzie exited but fought officers during the arrest, requiring multiple TASER drive‑stuns before he was handcuffed. McKenzie later admitted he saw police but “wanted to get the home to Mosby,” claiming he “barely had brakes.” Charges Submitted: • Resist Arrest/Detention by Fleeing • Length of Vehicle Exceeds 45 Feet • Width of Vehicle Exceeded 8 ½ feet • Careless and Imprudent Driving • Driving While Revoked • No Proof of Insurance • Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device • Improper Vehicle Lighting • Drive on Right of Roadway Municipal charges were later withdrawn pending the filing of state charges.
