On August 30, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officer Salido observed a vehicle run a red traffic light and nearly collide with his patrol vehicle. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 24-year-old woman. She repeatedly denied consuming alcohol even though Officer Salido indicated she had bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor consistent with an alcoholic beverage coming from her mouth. The woman was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Driving While Under the Influence (DWI). She was transported to the Rio Rancho police station, where she provided two breath samples. The results were 0.22% BAC and 0.21% BAC. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
