MEDFORD, New York - A Long Island motorist has filed a lawsuit against the Suffolk County Police Department alleging he was assaulted by officers during a traffic stop in Medford, Suffolk County. According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred after the driver was stopped by police and requested to speak with a supervisor. The motorist alleges that he refused to exit his vehicle until a supervisor arrived. Court filings claim that an officer then entered the vehicle and punched him multiple times before several officers forcibly removed him from the car and placed him under arrest. The plaintiff alleges he suffered a concussion, two black eyes, and additional injuries during the encounter. Following the arrest, he was charged with traffic violations and resisting arrest. The lawsuit further alleges that the traffic stop was racially motivated. The claim was made by the motorist's attorney as part of the civil action. No court finding has been issued regarding that allegation. Sources: Court filings as reported by local news outlets; statements attributed to the plaintiff's attorney; Suffolk County Police Department statement declining comment due to pending litigation. #police #cops #crime #policia #polizei #Police_Incidents #CrimeNews
