#arkansas #cops #pursuit #police GPS device was deployed on the license plate right around the 4:24 mark On August 16, 2022, around 2:45 AM, Trooper First Class (TFC) Nathan Williams advised Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle on 65th Street. LRPD contacted Arkansas State Police (ASP) Dispatch and requested our assistance with the pursuit once it reach Interstate 30. Monitoring Little Rock's channel, I heard the pursuit was on Interstate 30 westbound and I was on Geyer Springs. As the pursuit crossed Geyer Springs on I-30 westbound, I entered the pursuit and took primary. I attempted to PIT multiple times; however the driver swerved back and forth, not allowing me pull alongside him. The driver entered into construction a construction zone, intentionally driving through barrels that were lined to prevent traffic from entering those lanes. He operated the vehicle at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. I knew from driving the area earlier, the construction crew had moved further west. I attempted a PIT again inside the construction zone, inside the lanes that were closed for construction, but he avoided me and entered the single lane of traffic that was designated for interstate traffic. He passed vehicles on the shoulder, still traveling at high rates of speed. I was able to deploy a star chase round and it stuck to the rear of the vehicle. At the time of deployment, I was unaware if the round was tracking. Soon after the deployment, and knowing we were approaching a construction zone that had active work taking place, I was able to move alongside the passenger side of the fleeing vehicle to utilize a PIT. As I made contact with the vehicle, the front of my unit started to come up; therefore, I backed off. The fleeing vehicle rotated and truck the concrete barrier on the right shoulder where it continued rotating until coming to rest in lane 1. The driver, Subject 1, jumped from the driver seat to the rear passenger seat and back to the driver seat. He eventually forced the driver door open and attempted to flee on foot but was met by a LRPD Officer and was taken into custody. The passenger, Subject 2, was ordered out of the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. I requested EMS to evaluate both individuals. LRPD assumed the investigation and took custody of both occupants. My vehicle did not sustain any damage. My maximum speed reached during the pursuit was 121 mile per hour. Subject 1 was charged with: Fleeing - Felony Theft by Receiving - Felony Resisting Arrest - Misdemeanor City of Little Rock Curfew Violation Several Traffic Violations Subject 2 was charged with: City of Little Rock Curfew Violation LRPD's report number is 2022-097025.
