On October 27, 2023, Athens-Clarke County Police were called to a shoplifting in progress. When Sgt. Cook arrived, the suspect and two others were still in a vehicle in the parking lot. The 23-year-old woman who was seen shoplifting on store surveillance cameras initially denied taking any merchandise. When the occupants of the car were told the car would be searched, she presented the item that she stole. Sgt. Cook then persuaded the store manager to press charges against the woman so that word would get out that people should not steal from Walgreens. It turns out this was the woman's 4th shoplifting arrest within a 12-month period. Her charges and the outcome of all of her cases is discussed at the end of the video.
