What began as a simple traffic stop in Conway, Arkansas quickly escalated into a major drug bust after an officer detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle parked in the roadway. During the police traffic stop, Officer Morales made contact with the driver of a Dodge Durango and immediately recognized indicators consistent with marijuana possession. Based on probable cause, officers conducted a vehicle search, a common step in police investigations involving suspected narcotics. Inside the trunk, officers discovered multiple black duffel bags and sealed, vacuum-packed packages containing approximately 19.5 pounds of marijuana, turning the encounter into a significant marijuana trafficking and drug enforcement case. The driver was arrested and charged with drug possession, transporting marijuana, and child endangerment, as the drugs were located in close proximity to a minor passenger.
