*If you can donate to support Sgt. Prewitt, please let them know in the notes that Arkansas Police Activity, sent you to help. God bless our men and women of LE.* Donation Link for Sgt. Prewitt: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-officer-prewitts-recovery A Marion, Arkansas police officer was critically injured on Interstate 40 when he was accidentally struck by a West Memphis police cruiser traveling at 40 miles per hour during a chaotic pursuit. The incident occurred while officers were attempting to apprehend a suspect who had stolen a patrol vehicle. Incident Timeline & Key Details: The Suspect: Joshua Henry, 27, wrestled an officer, escaped into a Marion patrol car, and drove away. The Pursuit: Multiple agencies (including the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office, West Memphis Police Department, and Arkansas State Police) chased the suspect. The Crash: The pursuit ended when Arkansas State Police executed a PIT maneuver on I-40 East. During the subsequent arrest on the interstate, Sergeant Darrell Prewitt of the Marion Police Department was hit by a West Memphis police car. Injuries & Recovery: Sgt. Prewitt suffered severe damage to his left leg and a head injury. He survived because fellow officers quickly applied tourniquets at the scene, and he has since been recovering after undergoing multiple surgeries. Suspect Charges: Henry was taken into custody facing numerous charges, including fleeing, vehicle theft, and second-degree battery. Current Status: Prewitt harbors no ill will toward the West Memphis officer, calling the collision an inherent accident of the job. First responders and the local community have since organized fundraisers to support his lengthy recovery process.
