Hampton Avenue. While patrolling in a marked squad car, officers were flagged down by a community member who reported two individuals brandishing firearms. Officers quickly located the two suspects and attempted an investigatory stop. Both individuals fled on foot, prompting a foot pursuit. One officer gave chase and encountered one of the suspects in an alley in the 4800 block of N. 46th Street. The officer issued commands for the suspect to drop the firearm, but the suspect refused. An exchange of gunfire followed. Both the suspect and the officer were struck by gunfire. The second suspect was taken into custody without further incident. No bystanders were injured. Two ghost guns were recovered from the scene. The injured suspect, a 39-year-old male, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The second suspect, a 19-year-old male, was not injured. The officer, a 30-year-old male with over seven years of service, was also treated at the hospital for non-fatal injuries. As per department protocol, the officer—who discharged his weapon—has been placed on administrative duty pending investigation. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Business Email - ystudios00@gmail.com
