On June 5, 2024, Melbourne Police responded to a crash that turned out to be much more than a traffic accident. The driver, Liberty, gave conflicting stories, failed sobriety tests in dramatic fashion, and turned combative at the station—yelling, resisting, and refusing basic commands. She was charged with DUI, battery on an officer, and resisting arrest. Though she later took a plea deal and avoided formal conviction, she was sentenced to probation, anger management, and community service. But nearly nine months later, she still hasn’t paid a single dollar toward her fines.
