On March 23, 2024, a Las Cruces Police Service Aide responded to a non-injury motor vehicle accident. After speaking with the at-fault driver, he suspected that she might be impaired. He called for a police officer to respond to the scene for assistance. When officers arrived, they requested that the 20-year-old woman perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was eventually arrested for DUI and transported to the Las Cruces police station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result of the test was 0.17% BAC, making her DUI charge aggravated. She pled guilty to the charge on April 11, 2024, and is currently awaiting sentencing.
