On March 22, 2023, Shrewsbury Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident. One of the involved drivers indicated that she was hit by a white Porsche Macan that had pulled into the Grove shopping mall parking lot. Sgt. Barnicle and Patrolman Fox proceeded to look for the Porsche. Sgt. Barnicle was first to locate the female driver of the Porsche. In order to make sure that she was safe to drive, Sgt. Barnicle asked the driver to perform standardized field sobriety exercises. Sgt. Barnicle determined that the driver was intoxicated and placed the woman under arrest for DUI. A search of her vehicle, incidental to arrest, revealed an open container of alcohol. She was transported to the Shrewsbury Police Headquarters, where she submitted to an evidentiary breath test (EBT). The results of the EBT were 0.184% BAC. The woman was given summons for DUI, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Following Too Closely, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Having an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. All individuals are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
