On March 11, 2025, Michael Robinson — a 35-year-old Walgreens store manager at the 7th and H Streets NW location in Washington, D.C. — pleaded guilty to conspiracy to interfere with interstate commerce by robbery under the Hobbs Act and using, carrying, possessing, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence after a federal investigation by the FBI Washington Field Office and the Metropolitan Police Department revealed he had orchestrated seven armed robberies of his own store between July 18, 2023, and February 11, 2024. Robinson and his co-conspirators — his girlfriend and fellow store manager London Teeter, his nephew Gianni Robinson, and gunman Kamanye Williams — exploited their inside knowledge of cash transfer schedules, manager office access codes, and the number of armed Special Police Officers on shift to stage the same robbery scenario repeatedly, taking at least $28,983 in total cash split among four participants. Robinson was sentenced July 23, 2025, by U.S. District Judge Jia M. Cobb to 147 months in federal prison, five years of supervised release, and $7,245.75 in restitution. The scheme unraveled on February 11, 2024, when Williams was shot in the chest by a Special Police Officer during the final robbery — a guard who had no way of knowing the armed intrusion he was stopping had been scripted by the two managers who hired him to protect them.
