On August 13, 2024, Wildwood Police Officers responded to a report of two unconscious individuals inside of a vehicle. The caller reported that the vehicle had been stationary through 2 to 3 traffic light cycles without moving. When Patrolman Edwards arrived, he found a 24-year-old female and her male passenger both outside of the vehicle. At one point, the woman entered the driver's side of the vehicle and started it. Patrolman Edwards quickly instructed her to turn the vehicle off. She was then offered the opportunity to prove her sobriety by completing standardized field sobriety tests. However, she repeatedly stated that her father was a police detective and she asked numerous times to show the officers her badge. She refused to complete the walk and turn test and was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor. She was first transported to the Wildwood Crest Police Headquarters where the police report indicates she provided a breath sample. The result was 0.18% BAC. While back enroute to the Wildwood Police Headquarters, she claimed a $5,000 bracelet was missing. The police report indicates that officers reviewed body camera footage and the woman was not wearing the bracelet when they first encountered her. On April 23, 2025, she pleaded guilty to Operating Under the Influence and she was fined $690. In addition, her license was revoked for 7 months and she was ordered to complete 12 hours at an Intoxicated Driver's Resource Center.
