A driver identified as Carrie was stopped for speeding through a school zone shortly before 9 AM. She told the deputy she had just left work feeling sick and was trying to get home. The deputy detected an odor of alcohol and called for a second opinion to conduct standardized field sobriety testing. Carrie said her last drink was around 10 PM the night before, that she had eaten breakfast at her office, and that she was on hypertension and anti-anxiety medication. She said she suffered from vertigo and balance issues affecting her ear. After failing the eye exam, walk-and-turn, and one-leg-stand, she was placed in handcuffs. When she said "guys, I'm on medication," the deputy responded: "If this is medications, that doesn't mean you're not under the influence. That just might mean you're more under the influence." She later provided three breath samples at the station: .256, .235, and .242 — more than three times Florida's legal limit of .08. She was charged with DUI and her vehicle was towed.
