On July 25, 2025, Mount Vernon Police Officers were on patrol when they made contact with a 26-year-old that they described as being loud and boisterous. The police report described the woman as intoxicated, unstable on her feet, and smelling of alcohol. They later made contact with the same woman at a Speedway gas station. She denied driving her car there, but another officer observed her get out of the driver's seat, and the gas station surveillance footage confirmed she was the driver. As a result, she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. After the tests, she was placed under arrest. The police report indicates her breath alcohol concentration was 0.119%. She was charged with: (1) Operating a Vehicle Impaired; (2) Driving on a Suspended License; and (3) Obstructing Official Business. On September 5, 2025, she pleaded guilty to the OVI charge. The other two charges were dismissed. She was fined $700 plus court costs, ordered to attend a 3-day Driver's Intervention Program, and her license was suspended for 1 year. In addition, she was placed on probation for 2 years, which included the requirement to attend weekly Alcoholic Anonymous meetings.
